Therapies
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Pattern recognition. Our staff utilizes CBT to identify the automatic negative thoughts and environmental triggers that lead to substance use, replacing them with practical, proactive coping mechanisms.

What Cognitive Behavioral Therapy involves
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, practical approach built on a simple observation: thoughts, feelings and behaviour are linked, and the chain from a trigger to a drink or a dose is more predictable than it feels from the inside.
The work is to map that chain, catch the automatic thought partway along, and put a different response in its place. CBT is skills-based and often involves work between sessions, because the point is to use it in the situations where it is actually needed rather than only in the room.
What to expect
Structured and goal-directed
Sessions follow a clear method with defined targets, rather than open-ended conversation.
Trigger mapping
You identify the specific people, places, times and internal states that reliably precede use.
Skills you keep
The coping strategies developed in CBT are meant to outlast treatment and are reinforced in aftercare.
